We leave the Surrey Hills National Landscape behind travelling via Godalming before heading into the next of the Tour’s National Parks, the South Downs National Park.
The route celebrates this natural bounty, on and off road, finally leaving the National Park via the estate of Goodwood House and Motor Circuit. Goodwood is a special place to me, my dad was a 1950’s Formula One photographer and Lord March of Goodwood has his book 1950s Motorsport. Also, the Festival of Speed there is Britain’s most important automotive and motorsport exhibition and so somewhere I have been for work several times.
The day finishes at Chichester’s gothic cathedral.
