Saturday 10th August

Today is fancy dress day – come to the Parkrun and then tour Glastonbury dressed as fruit from the land, or gods, goddesses, mystics, or Dr Dre, or any Glastonbury musician. Basically the more people we can get in fancy dress at Street Parkrun and going up Glastonbury Tor the better.
This day may start at Othery if I have extended Day 40
The Parkrun at Street has a great ironic sound about it and adds to last week’s one at Parke.
After Street, its Glastonbury and of course the Tor will feature and its connection with the Avalon and Excalibur legends will be assessed. There’s also the Abbey and the popular Goddess temple – “devoted to bringing Goddess alive in the world”.
After all that empowerment we head to Wells, named Britain’s most romantic place in a recent survey.

So whilst hunting down the cultural dominance of the cathedral and its archbishopric, I’ll also try and find some romantic weekenders.
Post Run
I’m staying in the less romantic ‘Wookey Hole” a local family touristic spot. Then we’ll drive to Cheddar Gorge to see the sunset there. After sundown, we will celebrate Cheddar together with the chief benefit of the apple orchards of Avalon, Cider. We’ll see if we can muster up a blind taste test for a Cheddar cheese off, from a selection of a few of them.
