The running route is mostly trail and follows the valley of the Ouse including Linton, a site where progressed plans in 2022 for housing 1500 asylum seekers at an old RAF base have since been withdrawn.

The route goes via Beningbourgh Hall and Gardens (National Trust), a Georgian mansion with art gallery.

Most of the other key sites of the day come on entering, going through and exiting York with diversions from the prescribed route likely. Jorvik Viking Centre, The Shambles and of course the Gothic masterpiece, the Minster, are all on the visit list.

The end destination, Copmanthorpe is where the RAF’s 57 Squadron was formed.
