Exiting Blackburn leaves industry behind and countryside ahead with the Forest of Bowland a wonderful National Landscape of fells to cross.

The day’s route finishes in Hornby village with Hornby Castle overlooking the finish line.

Post Run and Van Visits
There’s a busy agenda post run, so let’s see how many of these we can fit in.

Lancaster Cathedral – Its a Catholic one, and relatively recently upgraded from ‘church’. So Lancaster isn’t a designated cathedral city, but many think it is one, so a nice add.
Lancaster Castle – The North West’s most important historical landmark according to English Heritage and still a functioning prison as recently as 2011.
Carnforth Station: The abandoned and preserved station is the setting of Brief Encounter.
Silverdale: The overnight location has been chosen specifically to get the best of the Silverdale National Landscape and coast. It is also near to the HQ of VOOM Nutrition, whose post run recovery fudge, amongst many great products, is one of the best products for runners!
